Prof. Dr. Béla Merkely, Hubert Kós and Dávid Nagy are honorary citizens of the 2nd district

This year, on October 20, the II. District Commemorative Medals, the Posthumous Honorary Citizenship of the II. District, and the Honorary Citizenship of the II. District were awarded at the Klebelsberg Cultural Manor.

In 2024, the Honorary Citizens of the II. District were Hubert Kós, Olympic, World, and European champion swimmer; Prof. Dr. Béla Merkely, Széchenyi Prize-winning academic doctor; and Dávid Nagy, Olympic and European champion épée fencer. The posthumous honorary citizenship was awarded to Marcell Komor, architect, writer, and representative of the national Secessionist style.

In addition, the local government awarded the II. District Commemorative Medal to Dr. Ilona Nikolits, general practitioner and internist, candidate of medical sciences, as well as to the Hidegkúti Sports Club and the II. District Youth Football Club.
